New Look pattern 6674

Here is a dress I enjoyed making last spring.  I did add my own touch by making a white cording for the collar.  The next time I make this dress I will use a much lighter weight fabric.  I believe this red bandana cotton fabric was meant for quilting and the dress turned out to be quite heavy.  Not a good dress to pack for traveling with today's weight limit on luggage.

Refashion men's shirt and tie

My husband was cleaning out some of his dingy work shirts and ties out of his closet.  The collars were worn out, the elbows had ink stains and the underarm areas were shot.  This particular shit always attracted me.  It is a very pretty soft lavender color and I thought with his dark tone complexion he looked handsome and very attractive.

The tie had paisley's, which he never cared for, and besides it was outdated and had many pin holes from his tie tact.

I refashioned this shirt and tie to be my new shirt.

I also made the necklace with help from my niece Lili.

I also tried my hand at beading with the help of my niece.  Pretty necklace with matching earrings and bracelet.  I know I will get more use out of this set.

Peacock painting

I have had this very pretty red waste basket and I had covered in wall paper many years ago.  I almost threw it out and then I thought about removing the wall paper and painting it white.  I did it but it was too plain. Something missing.  So I bought an acrylic paint and brush kit.  I have always liked peacocks so this is my painted waste basket for my craft sewing room.

I like the way it turned out for my first painting.  I may try painting on canvas since I have all these tubes of acrylic paints and brushes.

Guest and craft room

I am in the process of redoing a guest bedroom into a craft / guest bedroom.  This room is very messy right now because I don't have much storage.  The room has a nice size closet, but it is not organized and my husband keeps his clothes in there along with boxes of who knows what.

There are bags, boxes and containers full of fabrics, ribbons and stuff sitting in the corners on the floor.  I would love to work on crafts but I get discourage when I search for items through the stacks.  Here are some pictures of the messy room.

A few weeks ago I went on a hunt  for a cabinet like the pretty ones you see online in the craft room images.  In searching Craigslist I seen some very nice armoire for sale by owners, but I do not have a truck and some were at a distance from me.  So I spent a day with my hubby going around town form thrift stores to thrift stores and antique shops.  I was shock by the price range in the antique shops.  Finally after running around all day on our last stop of the day around closing time I found it!  We purchased the computer cabinet at a furniture consignment shop.  I was very pleased.  Now, to squeeze into the room without moving out any furniture.  Here is a pic of the cabinet.  More pictures to come as I organize room.

Bobbin Holder

This bobbin holder is easy to make and it keeps my threads from tangling.  It is an easy way to search out the colors I need for my next sewing project.

I started with a plain photo frame, pretty printed felt, and those rubber toe separators that are used when polishing toe nails.  Cut felt to the size of interior frame. Hot glue felt to inside frame.  Hot glue the rubber toe separators to the felt.  I added to small nails to each side of frame and attached a gold chain to hang on a nail.

I placed it inside of my craft cabinet but I may move it out to the wall next to my sewing machine where it is in easy each.
